The frequency starter is most often used for switching large 3-phase motors to limit the starting current. If you do not have the possibility to install a classic circuit breaker with characteristic C, i.e. just for motors that have a high starting current, then a frequency inverter is the best and cheapest option.
The frequency starter DE1 has basic settings, see the downloadable PDF files for these basic parameter settings. Should you need to override these parameters, use the DX-EXT-SET parameterization module, which simply uses a screwdriver to override the values to suit your needs.
DE1 - Flexible application options
With the new DE1 frequency starter, no special technical knowledge of drives is required - neither for installation nor for commissioning. Operating the compact frequency starter is as convenient as with a motor starter. Frequency starters can be used in several ways and thus cover a wide range of applications. The simplest option is to use them straight out of the box without any parameterization.
In addition to the ready-to-run device, which does not need any parameter setting, the user has the optional DXE EXT-SET configuration module. With this module, the factory settings can be individually adapted to the respective application using basic parameters such as ramp times, motor protection and control signal terminal functions - absolutely simply with a screwdriver.
In addition, the DE1 of course also offers the possibility to make parameter adjustments with the external control unit with LED display, familiar from the PowerXL product portfolio. The drivesConnect software also continues to make the new frequency starter considerably easier to work with - as with the entire PowerXL range. The user of the DE1 is able to set and record parameters with the software using a PC. The handy Parameter-Copy-Stick can be used to copy parameters from one instrument to another.
